Mat Level 1
Format: Saturday and Sunday 10am to 6pm
Cost: $500.00 tuition (USD) includes Mat Certification Manual
Prerequisites: 20 Mat Classes
Description: Cueing Techniques, modifications and variations for each exercise making them adaptable for students with differing abilities, issues or movement experiences thoroughly reviewed by our master instructors. We also breakdown each exercise into their simplest and then most challenging forms. We explore the history and essence of the Pilates Method with specific emphasis on how a variety of breathing techniques is used to create added stability and strength during exercises. The Mat Level 1 certification course includes:
- Body College Warm-Up
- 20 Foundation Movements
- 22 Mat Exercises
- Postural Evaluation
- Basic Pilates Anatomy
- Contraindications
Learn to teach and perform beginner and intermediate Pilates Mat Exercises in a safe manner with knowledge and confidence gained through the experience of the Body College Pilates Mat Level 1 Teacher Training Certification.

Mat Level 2

Prerequisites:
10-20 Advanced Mat Classes
Completion of Mat Level 1 course
Experience teaching Mat Level 1 classes
Description: Learn to teach and perform advanced Mat and Standing Pilates Exercises in a safe manner with knowledge and confidence gained through the experience of the Body College Pilates Mat Level 2 Teacher Training Certification.
The Mat Level 2 certification course includes:
- 11 Advanced Foundation Movements
- 15 Advanced Mat Exercises.
- 14 Standing Pilates Exercises
- Posture Assessment and Corrective Exercise Principles
The Foundation Exercises teach the essential movement principles necessary for correct performance of the advanced mat and standing Pilates Exercises.
The Standing Mat Exercises are based on the original exercise choreography and archived video of Joseph H. Pilates. These exercises provide additional challenge to balance, proprioception, coordination, core strength, core stability and pelvic floor activation. This is functional fitness because the movements mimic many of our daily activities.
Completing the Body College Pilates Mat Level 1 and 2 Certifications means you will have the knowledge and confidence as a Certified Pilates Mat Instructor to teach the Beginner to Advanced Mat repertoire based on the original movements of Joseph H Pilates.

Pilates Apparatus
Format: The Body College Apparatus Certification meets once a week on Fridays from 12pm to 4pm, for 10 weeks. 300-hour certification that includes observation, homework, apprentice teaching and 40 hours of experiential lecture.Cost: $3000.00 tuition (USD) includes Apparatus Certification Manual
Prerequisites: Students must have completed Mat Level 1 and 2 and 20 hours apparatus training (private or semi-private sessions).
Description:
The 10-week course will covers the classical and contemporary exercise protocols on the equipment as well as modifications and variations. Apparatus training includes Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair, Ladder Barrel and small apparatus (majik circle, spine corrector, small arc).
The final test-out will take place 9-12 months after the completion and documentation of the course hours. Upon successful test-out, receive your certificate as a Certified Pilates Apparatus Instructor.
- Experiential Lecture 40 Hours, 4 hours per week
- Observation & Journal Discussion 60 Hours
- Self Practice 40 Hours
- Practice Teaching 75 Hours
- Assistant Teaching 60 Hours
- Self Study 25 Hours: Body College Apparatus Manual, Recommended Reading & Reference List. Upon completion of the 300 hours, students may schedule the final practical and written test-out for certification.
Apparatus Certification Dates:
January 14, 2012 – April 1, 2012 (No class 2/18/12 and 3/18/12)
May 13, 2012 – July 29, 2012 (No class 5/27/12 and 7/1/12)
